This site carries a check against one class of untruth: a false claim about the group. The register the pages themselves render from says the group operates three companies; a material in this section that puts a different number there does not publish. The check refuses it rather than quietly correcting it.
On 8 September we found that the claim it refuses inside an article was already printing on one of our own pages. The check had never read them.
The claim that would have been refused
The investors page carries a strip of four figures. Two of them are read from the register — years in 3D, partners. One was written by hand, in the same array, sitting between those two: { value: "5", label: "Brands in the group" }.
It matched nothing. The register says the group runs three operating companies, and it lists six own product lines. Five was neither, and it wore the provenance of the two entries it sat between without having any.
A fourth entry on that strip is still written on the page — Global, under “Distribution reach”. It is a claim, but not a measurement, and a check built to compare figures would only pretend to test it.
The count of product lines had a third value as well. The register and the home page said six; the group page listed five. VARGATES Technics was missing from the page a partner opens to see what the group is made of — while it had its own page on this site, its own card in the product list, and its own entry in the catalogue that feeds our structured data.

The count was the symptom
The number of wrong figures is not the finding. The finding is that a page was a place where a figure could be authored at all — with nothing to compare it against, and nothing to say who established it.
Re-running the finished check against the site as it stood earlier gives the size of that habit:

Split by who could demand proof
Seventeen figures moved into registers. A target we set for our own delivery — a first-render target, a frame rate, zero plugins required — and a count of something this site itself publishes are honest without an outside document, for the same reason a specification is: nobody but us could contradict them. Each entry names its source anyway.
The rest came down with nothing in their place. 500+ Virtual patients, 15k+ Training sessions, 100+ Medical films produced, 100+ Enterprise Clients and others like them had no count behind them, no date, and nobody who could confirm them. A replacement figure without a source would be the same defect written again. Some of those same quantities still appear inside sentences elsewhere on the site — that is the gap described below, and it is open.
One of them was not a size at all. #1 Metaverse in KZ is a claim on a market — precisely the kind a reader is entitled to ask us to prove.
Two quantities each appeared on two pages, with different values under a literally identical label. For one of the pairs a source existed, so one value survived it and the other went. For the other pair there was no source behind either number, and keeping one of them as the true one was not a choice available to us.
The strongest source is a derivation, not a citation
Two pages printed 8 Industries served as a literal, while the list of industries lived on one of them. Nothing tied the number to the list: adding a ninth industry would have left two pages claiming eight.
The list is now a file of its own and the figure is counted from it. It cannot drift from what it counts, because it is no longer written down anywhere.
The guard failed first, in the same shape
The first version of the new check pinned the spelling its author happened to look at: an object with value then label. One page writes { value, label, hint }, so a third key hid two live figures from a check written to find exactly that. Another writes { label, value }, so key order alone would have hidden the next one. It ran green while both of the hidden figures were live on the site.
Three more were in no object at all — written straight into the markup. A check that matches only the spellings its author thought of reports the site clean, and a clean report nobody has earned is worse than no check: it is the same failure as the figure it polices, one layer up.
It also went red on the explanation
Reading the file as written made the check red on a comment — the one that records why the hand-written literal was removed, and which therefore quotes it. A guard that cannot tell an explanation from a claim teaches the next person to delete the explanation, and deleting the record of a defect is worse than the defect.
It now reads what ships. Block comments and whole-line comments are stripped; a trailing // is left alone, because "https://…" ends in two slashes that begin no comment.
A source has to point at something
The second half of the check reads the registers themselves, because a register whose entries argue their right to state a number is the defect moved indoors.
Length was the first attempt, and it measured the wrong thing: a confident sentence is longer than an honest short one, so a threshold rewards confidence. One entry carried the reasoning that the count was ours to state because the pipeline was ours — argued entitlement, not provenance — and it sailed through. So a source now has to name something a stranger can open: a change record, a year, a path on this site, a file in the repository. Or it has to be one of two named constants standing for “we set this ourselves”, which have to be chosen deliberately rather than written as prose.
What this does not cover
A figure inside a sentence is not caught, and we narrowed the claim rather than stretching it. To a pattern matcher, prose is not distinguishable from ordinary text — “18+ languages” in a sentence looks like any other words, and a site has to be able to write both. That gap is recorded as open work with the pages and phrases it affects, not described as solved.
The pattern that nearly shipped
While adding VARGATES Technics to the group page, the first draft of the entry gave it an address of its own, by analogy with the three siblings that have one. It has none — it runs on the VARGATES platform, and we decided earlier that borrowing a platform is not the same as having a site. That invented domain would have shipped into the structured data as a place search engines could be told about, and it does not exist.
A plausible pattern is not a source. That is the same sentence as the rest of this change, arriving from the other direction.
Why a showcase publishes this
Everything above was on a page that a distributor, a partner or a candidate reads to decide whether we are worth talking to. Numbers are the part of such a page that looks the most like evidence and is the easiest to write without any.
The figures that came down are restorable one at a time — as soon as somebody can say what was counted, when, and who can confirm it. Until then they do not come back: not to the place they were, and not under a different label.
